The city of Alcalá’s Stolpersteine or Memory Stones

Following an introduction to the history of Spanish Republican exiles in France and the experiences of some as prisoners in Nazi concentration camps, we will discuss the duty of memory that artists and historians have embraced to honour the men and women who suffered the pain of exile and the violence of the camps. We will present the Stolpersteine project by German artist Gunter Demnig and visit these monuments in Alcalá de Henares.
